What is The Circle?
The Circle is an innovative, reality competition series that isolates cast members in their own apartments. They have no physical contact with each other or the outside world. Hello, quarantine my old friend.
Contestants live in separate apartments in a single building and don’t meet face-to-face during the competition. The only way to communicate with each other is by texting through a voice-activated social media platform called, The Circle. Players rank each other frequently and unpopular players get blocked.
Since players only know each other through their online dialogue and profile photos, you never really know who is on the other side of the screen. Players can choose to portray a true or fictional version of themselves.
Players can chat with the entire group or specific contestants. There are also alerts for mini-games designed to let the cast members get to know each other better or to win prizes.
Every episode, The Circle prompts players to rate each other. The people with the highest, most favorable ranking become “influencers” and have the power to block a player and eliminate them from the game.
Status and strategy collide in this social experiment where players flirt, befriend and even catfish their way to the top. In the end, the most popular player will take home $100,000!
The Circle will return in 2021. The series will film across the pond in Manchester, U.K. so grab your passport and don’t forget your mask!
