I lost 15 lbs during quarantine without changing my workout routine and diet! How, you ask?! A little bit of Peloton and a whole lot of perspective, but we’ll get to that in a minute.

Typically, I’m not one to weigh myself or take the number on the scale seriously. I never cared about it and maybe that’s why I was stunned when I discovered how much I weighed in December. I WAS SHOOK. I had gained 20 lbs since that last time I checked in college. Granted, I used to be a collegiate club volleyball player back in the day. But 20 lbs?! I was determined live a healthier lifestyle.

I, along with the mass majority of the world, made a New Year’s Resolution to lose weight. I worked out about 3-4 times a week. I incorporated strength training, power yoga, running and weekly Peloton classes. Additionally, I meal prepped every week, eating mostly chicken and salmon. I also increased my water intake to about a gallon every day. It seemed like I was doing everything right, but wasn’t getting results.

AND THEN QUARANTINE HAPPENED.

I started working from home and didn’t have access to my work gym or LA Fitness, but I somehow managed to shed more pounds during the shelter in place order. My diet and workout routine remained the same, so what changed?

Sure the Peloton helped, but I think it had more to do with my mindset. Before, I treated workouts like a chore. I felt like it was something I had to do to lose weight. Once we were quarantined, I started viewing workouts differently. It wasn’t something I had to do, it was something I get to do. Since I didn’t have to commute to the West side of Los Angeles anymore, I was so grateful to have extra time each day. I was thankful to have an able body to move freely and exercise when I chose. Sleeping about 8 hours a night was definitely a factor in helping me lose weight. I also became more intentional with my workouts and what I ate. I dedicated each exercise to a specific area of focus instead of working out for the sake it. Every movement was intentional, slow and steady. As soon as my perspective changed, I started seeing results. As they say, consistency is key and patience is a virtue.

Peloton uses technology and design to connect the world through fitness, empowering people to be the best version of themselves anywhere, anytime.

Robin Arzón, VP of Fitness Programming and Head Instructor at Peloton is my all-time favorite instructor. She gives you that complete New York, tells it like it is, takes no prisoners, tough love attitude and I’m here for it. She always makes me feel like a QUEEN! Her mantra? DO EPIC SH!T. I felt that.

I’ve been an avid Peloton rider ever since I helped cast their holiday ad in 2018. Here are some of the final images from the photo shoot.
